Described by Jess Iszatt BBC Radio1 as “Following in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard & early Coldplay” and by Abbie McCarthy BBC Radio as “The Ultimate Storyteller”
Jasper Hodges is an 18 year old singer-songwriter hailing from Whitstable, Kent. Already, with just a guitar and his voice, he’s made a mark—most recently opening Louis Dunford’s sold-out show at London’s Alexandra Palace to 10,000 people, closing out a full UK and Ireland tour as main support and more recently supporting Zach Bryan at BST’s Hyde Park.

Your track of the day
Lady May - Tyler Childers
What time of day do you feel most inspired?
I feel most inspired in the evening when the sun's setting. That’s my favourite time to sit with a guitar and write.
What do you daily to get into your creative mindset?
I’d say making sure I live the most life out of every day, making sure I leave the house and experience things to write about.
Where's your favourite space to experience music?
I find something really special in seeing thousands of people singing together at a concert.
You recently released your debut EP ‘British Summertime’, how do you feel now that it’s out in the world?
I feel like I have taken the first step in my career, and it’s the first of many. To hear people singing my words up and down the country truly is amazing and a dream come true but I’m not finished yet, it’s gonna get a whole lot bigger from here.
If someone is finding you for the first time, which song from the project would you recommend they listen to first as an introduction to you?
I wouldn’t say there is one song in particular that would introduce me, I think each song off the EP shows a different part of me, and as a whole project it was a good way to introduce me to the world!
Earlier this year you shared the stage with Zach Bryan at BST. Imagine you are headlining your own BST date, who are 5 artists you’d love to have on the line up? (imagine no restrictions!)
No restrictions. I’d flip the roles and say Zach Bryan, Adele, Coldplay, If there’s no restrictions the Beatles and The Stone Roses, I reckon that would be a good night.
Pick one: A day in the studio, or a day on stage?
I’d say a day on the stage, one hundred percent, I love the studio but playing live is the reason I do what I do, the connection with the crowd especially a really great crowd is unbeatable.
You have 24 hours to master a musical skill, what is it?
I’d probably learn to play the violin, that’s next on my list I reckon
You have 24 hours, which musician/industry person would you spend it with and why?
I reckon I’d have a good laugh with Ed Sheeran
We’ve read that songwriting is the crux of your music, you have 24 hours to create a track from scratch. Walk us through your process:
I have to spend a bit of time on my own first and let my head settle, then I’d see with a guitar or at a piano and see what happens.
If you could time travel for the day, what era of music would you most like to visit?
2030 so I could see myself at number one.
